10 Horror Movies You Didn't Know Got Cancelled

7. Paranormal Activity 8

Next year will mark five years since the release of the last Paranormal Activity film, Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, which was sent straight to streaming service Paramount+, where it was panned by critics and basically quickly forgotten.

Though in 2022 reports emerged that Paranormal Activity 8 had been fast-tracked into development, later that year producer Jason Blum confirmed with hilarious bluntness that it had been scrapped. While discussing the franchise's future, Blum said, "Enough already... That last Paranormal Activity movie was terrible."

Blum added that it was "time to put [the franchise] to bed," and though he was open to reviving the series if a filmmaker came to him with a great idea, he's currently not interested in or actively pursuing it. Though it's intensely unlikely that a horror franchise as popular and lucrative as Paranormal Activity is dead for good, Blumhouse seems content to let it take an extended nap and revive it once people actually start to miss it. Makes sense.
