Last March, it was announced that a reboot of legendary horror-comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors - a reimagining of the IP intended to launch a wider media empire - was in development, under the title Little Shop of Halloween Horrors.

Before his death last year, Roger Corman - who directed the original 1960 film on which the Off-Broadway musical and 1986 film were based - was set to produce, though the real exciting news here? The great Joe Dante (Gremlins) had been hired to direct, with Charles S. Haas (Gremlins 2: The New Batch) set to write the script.

However, during a recent interview Dante was asked about the movie's status and gave a bleak update, retorting that "the word is 'stasis,' not status." Dante confirmed that the film has effectively been paused indefinitely, and given the conservative, risk-averse nature of Hollywood at present, the project seems unlikely to ever get the greenlight.
