10 Horror Movies You Didn't Know Got Cancelled
5. Dog Soldiers 2
Neil Marshall's 2002 werewolf actioner Dog Soldiers has remained a cult fave of horror fans for almost an entire quarter-century, and between its positive reviews and solid commercial performance, there have been ongoing sequel talks for literally decades.
Its first iteration, a sequel called Dog Soldiers: Fresh Meat, almost began shooting in 2004 without Marshall's involvement, though production was continually delayed, and by 2008, it had seemingly been quietly scrapped.
In 2014, Fresh Meat was revived for another go-around, though again it ultimately came to nothing. However, fans did receive an encouraging update in 2023 when Marshall revealed that he was working on his own Dog Soldiers sequel, which was "close" to happening if the legal red tape could be sorted out.
Sadly, late last year saw Marshall follow this up by revealing that though Dog Soldiers 2 almost got greenlit recently, negotiations with the rights holders broke down, making it impossible to proceed with a new film. That said, he did add that he was instead working on his own werewolf movie, The Werewolves of London, which he implied would basically be a spiritual successor to Dog Soldiers.
