10 Huge Horror Movies That Were Instantly Forgotten
1. Bird Box (2018)
This creative sci-fi horror is one of Netflix's most-watched movies of all time. It was so huge that you couldn't talk to anyone without them asking, "Have you seen Bird Box?" But now, most people think, "Oh yeah, that was a thing, wasn't it?"
Based on the novel of the same name by Josh Malerman, Bird Box captured the fear of a post-apocalyptic world where using your eyes could lead to certain death. It was a compelling horror story about a woman protecting two children from harsh entities that make you kill yourself after you look at them.
But despite the success, Bird Box really came and went.
The picture had its time in the sun, but everyone stopped talking about it as soon as that sun left. That flash-in-the-pan success is evident from the cold lack of enthusiasm for the spin-off movie, Bird Box Barcelona.
Bird Box is perhaps one of the firmest examples of how movie streaming works nowadays. Something comes along and trends for a time but then fails to integrate into the mainstream, inevitably making way for the next attempt to do so.
