10 Huge Movie Returns Nobody Ever Expected (THAT ARE FINALLY HAPPENING!)

It's somehow been a mind-boggling two decades since Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan suddenly swapped bodies in the Disney classic known as Freaky Friday.

Lohan's acclaimed performance as Anna Coleman in particular helped establish the youngster as a star of the future, with roles in the likes of Mean Girls and Herbie: Fully Loaded soon following.

The always captivating Curtis seemingly loved the idea of one day returning for some more body-swapping shenanigans with her co-star (via EW), too.

But even with fans of the cult classic, and Curtis, being very much up for the idea of a follow-up to that second Freaky Friday remake, it still didn't really feel like a sequel was on the cards until the back end of 2022.

Some positive conversations with Disney later, Curtis ultimately confirmed that both herself and Lohan were committed to making more Freaky Friday magic (via Variety), with May finally bringing with it official confirmation (via THR) that both ladies were expected to return as the Colemans in a sequel that would be penned by Elyse Hollander.

Lohan in the role of "hot grandma", as Curtis put it (via TheView)? And the Halloween star trying to be "a helicopter parent in today's world" in this cult hit follow-up? Sounds like a glorious recipe for bizarre chaos.
