The third Venom film was marketed as the "final" outing for Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and his symbiote pal, and for as shamelessly silly as the movie is, it does nevertheless want you to earnestly buy into the bromantic, possibly romantic bond between the pair.

And so, after Venom dies a sacrificial death in order to save the world from Knull (Andy Serkis), we're treated to an "emotional" closing montage chronicling Eddie and Venom's relationship throughout the trilogy.

If the fact that said montage features numerous clips from the movie we just watched wasn't corny enough, it's set to Maroon 5's cheeseball hit "Memories," in a hilariously transparent attempt to try and wring tears from audience members' eyes.

Though the scene certainly could have worked as a parody of saccharine farewell montages in movies, it's played completely straight.

It just keeps going without even the faintest wink at the audience that the filmmakers are aware of how toe-curlingly cringe-worthy it all is.

And even if you did somehow feel something from it, the post-credits scene a few minutes later confirms the most obvious thing - Venom's coming back, baby.
