With every new superhero movie that’s released, dozens of articles appear online asking the same question; is this the film that pops the superhero bubble?

Many see 2016 as a real test for the genre and whether it still holds the audience’s interest. With six high-profile superhero films from various studios hitting cinemas, it could be an overload on moviegoers. So, with the poor reception of Batman V Superman, is the end of the genre near?

Short answer: Absolutely not.

Dawn Of Justice is hardly the first superhero movie to get bad reviews and it successfully got many fans excited about what will come next. The fact that this movie made so much money in that opening, based on concept alone just proves audiences are far from sick of this stuff.

Even if this film was a letdown for you, as a comic book fan you're living in a golden age of movies. Civil War and X-Men: Apocalypse could be the biggest entries into their respective franchises. Deadpool, a movie few thought would ever become a reality, showed there was an even bigger audience than expected for these films. And both Marvel and DC have connected universes at the same time!

So let's put aside our differences and enjoy this bounty of goodness. Batman V Superman was a slip-up, but the future's positive.

What do you think the impact of Batman V Superman is on the future of the superhero genre? Share your thoughts down in the comments.
