10 Important Star Wars Details That Are Almost Never Mentioned
5. The Jedi Are Incredibly Rare, Mythical Beings
The Jedi are prominently featured throughout the entire Skywalker Saga, from Obi-Wan and Anakin in the prequels, to Luke in the originals, to Rey in the sequels.
This ends up giving off the impression that there's a Jedi on every street corner, making it easy to forget that, in actual fact, they're mythical beings, and that the vast majority of people in the galaxy have never actually seen one.
Though young Anakin does talk about the Jedi like they're a myth (and Rey is amazed when Han tells her they were actually real), that's really the extent of it, and because we follow one of these lightsaber-wielding heroes for each of the nine core movies, it feels like they're way more common than they actually are.
Of course, that's because those movies are centred on the Force-sensitive Skywalker clan, but if you travel further out from core worlds like Coruscant, the Jedi will start to become more of a legend than a reality. Remember, the Jedi Order is fairly reclusive during the prequel era, and pretty much extinct for the next six movies.
This speaks to a bigger problem some fans have with Star Wars - that everything has to be connected. It makes this vast universe feel small, even though there's so much out there yet to be explored.
