For fans of both horror and science-fiction, it doesn't get much better than the works of David Cronenberg. His mastery of scientific thrills and disturbing body horror has cemented his place in cinema history, with the most well-known and loved example of his work being the 1986 remake of The Fly.

Coming hot off the heels of The Fly, Dead Ringers is a prime example of his gift for depicting the uncomfortable and remains one of his most underappreciated works to date.

In typical Cronenberg fashion, Dead Ringers tells the story of twin gynaecologists (Played by the fantastic Jeremy Irons) who revel in the fact that nobody can tell them apart. This all starts off as fun and games but when a new love interest is introduced to the mix, the relationship between the brothers begins to deteriorate as they contemplate the notion of sharing her.

Dead Ringers' box-office returns were nowhere near what they deserve to be, raking in a mere 8 million against a budget of 13 million. To this day Dead Ringers remains a firm favourite amongst Cronenberg fans. It's a smart, well-put together little thriller that is definitely worth seeking out.
