10 Incredible Movie Scenes You Never Got To See
5. Marlon Brando's Cameo In The Godfather Part II
Film critics almost unanimously agree that The Godfather and The Godfather Part II are two of the greatest movies ever made. The first dealt with Mafia Don Vito Corleone and his family leading up to the Don's death and the ascension of his son, Michael, to replace him.
Marlon Brando was particularly excellent in the first film, but he wasn't in the second movie, which was entirely about his character, and how he became a powerful Don in New York City. Granted, the film stands on its own, and many consider it to be superior to the first, but the Don was noticeably missing.
Originally, he was supposed to reprise his role in a flashback scene, which would have come at the end of the movie. The scene would have shown his birthday, and it was fully planned and intended to be in the final cut of The Godfather Part II.
Unfortunately, the reality of Marlon Brando made filming it impossible. The actor was notoriously hard to work with, and at the time Francis Ford Coppola was shooting the movie, Brando was feuding with studio execs from Paramount Pictures.
He was scheduled to show up for the shoot, but he ghosted the production. This forced Coppola to rewrite the scene, so the Don didn't appear.
