10 Incredible Sci-Fi Movie Universes We Need More Of

1. Blade Runner

Mad Max Fury Road
Warner Bros.

Always a classic, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner seemed like an untouchable feat of cinema. Then came Denis Villeneuve with the masterpiece that was Blade Runner 2049. While it wasn’t quite the hit that Warner Brothers were hoping for, it was unanimously agreed upon that the film was a worthy sequel, with some even arguing that it is better than the original.

One thing is for sure, 2049 left us desperate for more of this dark future, with its off-planet colonies and resentful androids. Villeneuve has also recently teased us with the possibility of another sequel, but one separate from the Deckard Shaw storyline – registering his interest in a detective noire styled narrative.

We can’t really think of anything better than a murder-mystery dropped in the grim and holographic-mad Los Angeles. Villeneuve has one of the best track records in cinema, and if he were to return you’d be sure to see us standing in line at a midnight premiere.
