10 Incredibly Annoying Characters Who Almost Ruined 2013 Movies
10. Olaf - Frozen
Olaf the snowman is a curious creation. He was actually a key part of Frozen, and there was a lot more to his appeal than simply being the character Disney typically write in to sell toys (they already had that with their new princesses after all) but he was woefully misrepresented by the trailer, to the extent that he actually reflected terribly on what was a great film. In the trailer, Olaf wasn't funny, graceful, or even interesting to watch, and somewhat destructively, he made the movie look like it was going to be another Disney side-show with more attempts at gags instead of heart or a story. Those who have seen the film will know that such a reading is completely wrong, but that's what the trailer suggested. Luckily, the trailers were quite misleading. We found out that Olaf would have little impact on the movie itself, and he served as an occasional comic relief instead, with a brief flirtation that he was going to end up in the Disney graveyard. It helped that Josh Gad did a fantastic job bringing the character to life and actually delivering some well-deserved laughs - especially in his musical number. Overall, Olaf ended up being a loveable character against all odds (and indications to the contrary) and it seems that Disney made the wise decision of sidelining a character that would have ended up competing for attention in a story that really belonged to Elsa and Anna.
