10 Indications The Golden Globes Have Given Us For The Oscars

6. American Hustle Is A Juggernaut

Whether you feel that American Hustle is an overrated mess of a film or another example that David O. Russell can do no wrong, it doesn€™t change the fact that awards panels are deeply in love with this film. The movie took home more awards than anything else at the Globes - including Best Comedy/Musical, Best Actress (Amy Adams) In A Comedy/Musical, and Best Supporting Actress (Jennifer Lawrence) - which certainly spells success for the Academy Awards, too. As someone who actually really enjoyed the movie insanity, even I€™m admittedly a bit baffled at how many awards it took home. It's highly entertaining and full of actors just letting loose off the cuff with dialogue seemingly meant to confuse audiences just as much as each other's characters, but it results in a story held together by duct-tape. Panels dig David O. Russell films though, and backing his potential Oscar success is the fact that he has consistently directed his actors to awards with every film since The Fighter. They have also all received nominations for Best Picture and Best Director. American Hustle is destined to win something it seems; perhaps Jennifer Lawrence can pull off another upset in the Best Supporting Actress category beating out Lupita Nyong€™o€™s tear-jerkingly sympathetic slave again. If not, it€™ll definitely nab wins in makeup and costume categories, and is a mighty contender for the more prestigious awards.
