10 Infuriating Movie Cliffhangers That Nobody Bothered To Wrap Up

6. Does Dr. Gordon Continue Jigsaw's Work? - Saw 3D: The Final Chapter

The Cliffhanger: The alleged "final chapter" of the Saw franchise ended in appropriately bonkers style as Dr. Laurence Gordon (Cary Elwes) returned to take care of the new Jigsaw, Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor), who had been bastardising John Kramer's (Tobin Bell) work. We find out that Kramer's Jigsaw, who put Gordon through a game in the first film, subsequently nursed him back to health and Gordon has been one of Kramer's apprentices ever since. The movie ends with Hoffman being left to rot in the very same bathroom that Gordon himself had been previously chained up in, leaving us to wonder whether Gordon will continue Jigsaw's work. What Probably Happened: Considering this movie was touted as the concluding part of the Saw franchise, it left an awful lot up in the air for audiences, namely whether Gordon was simply tasked with finishing Hoffman off, or whether he truly believed in Jigsaw's cause and vowed to continue his experiments. Given that an eighth Saw film has been announced though it will reportedly be a soft reboot of sorts, we're left to conclude that Gordon probably left Hoffman to die and got back to his life.
