10 Insane Facts You Didn't Know About Christopher Lee

10. He Was Descended From Royalty

While Lee was certainly acting royalty (if Hammer Horror had a system of nobility for actors, Lee was probably the king), he probably already felt vindicated enough by the fact that he was descended from actual royalty. His mother, Contessa Estelle Marie Carandini di Sarzano, could date her noble family - one of the oldest in Europe - all the way back to the first century AD. Through the centuries, Lee could trace his and his mother's lineage back to Emperor Charlemagne of the Holy Roman Empire, otherwise known as Charles the Great. Lee and his family actually bore the Charlemagne coat of arms; apparently, the family continues to do so today. Sir Christopher was also part of the same Lee family that set up foundations in early America - this made him a relative of Confederate Civil War general Robert E. Lee. Which means you can now begin arguing which the greatest Lee of all time was, though do remember to take into account that Christopher was the only one who was a member of the Jedi Order.
