10 Insane Movies You Didn't Know Were Based On True Stories

2. Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates

The Conjuring
Fox

This raucous 2016 comedy cast Zac Efron and Adam DeVine as party animal brothers who place an online ad for ladies to accompany them to their sister's wedding. They choose applicants Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza, only to find out too late these girls are even wilder than they are.

Yes, Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates is indeed a true story. Mike and Dave Stangle are real-life New York brothers, who did indeed place such an ad on Craigslist, after their parents demanded they bring dates for fear that they might otherwise make a bigger scene and harass the bridesmaids.

The Stangle Brothers wound up with hundreds of applicants to choose from, and proceeded to go out on first dates with scores of them. While in reality the dates they took to the wedding weren't that out-there, it seems they met their share of crazy women along the way.

Ultimately they wrote a memoir about it, which in turn landed them a movie deal. How's that for living the dream.

Ben Bussey hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
