10 Insane Reasons Actors Didn't Return For Movie Sequels
8. Tommy Lee Jones Supposedly Refused To Work With Linda Fiorentino - Men in Black II
Men in Black memorably featured the prominent supporting character Dr. Laurel Weaver, as played by Linda Fiorentino - a medical examiner who joins the Men in Black as Agent L by film's end.
Yet despite this obvious sequel setup and the fact that Agent L is a major fixture in the alt-universe Men in Black animated series, she's entirely absent from Men in Black II, with Agent J (Will Smith) only fleetingly mentioning that she wanted to return to working as a medical examiner.
As for why L, an intriguing character played by a terrific actress, didn't make the cut?
If online scuttlebutt is to be believed, Tommy Lee Jones found Linda Fiorentino so hard to work with that he made it a condition of his return for the sequel that she wouldn't be a part of it.
Given that Fiorentino has something of a whispered-about reputation for being difficult to work with - a toxic label that has curtailed many a talented actress' career - it's easy to believe that she got the boot to keep one of the film's stars happy.
