10 Insane Things In Massive Movies (That Everyone Just Ignores)
5. Terminator - Why Do Infiltration Units Not Infiltrate?
The first Terminator film follows an early model infiltration unit send back to kill Sarah Connor. The T-800 is intelligent, but not quite intelligent enough to pass as human, only designed to breach human defences before opening fire. The T-800 can walk around among humans but struggles to interact beyond that, and it's failure to kill Sarah Connor results in Skynet sending far more advanced Terminator to complete the mission.
The T-1000 is clearly capable of disguising itself as human, the T-800 isn't shown as having any ability to detect it better than a human can. And yet the T-1000 stays in one form and immediately chases its target every single time it sees one, which lets them clearly see it as a Terminator. Every time it changes form it does so for a few minutes before turning back to the easily recognisable face. Imagine if in the hospital scene he had remained in the form of the security guard, approached as though ignorant as to who they are before suddenly attacking.
Not only would the film have made far more sense had it been constantly changing forms the whole time and trying to sneak up on them, it actually could have made for a never before seen kind of film. Instead of immediately recognising the T-1000 and attacking it, the heroes would have to be clever about figuring out who it was, constantly paranoid about those around them.
