10 Insane Things In Massive Movies (That Everyone Just Ignores)
3. Revenge Of The Sith - Mace Windu Still Doesn't Trust Anakin
The entire premise as to why Anakin Skywalker turns to the dark side in the space of ten minutes is not exactly Oscar worthy writing. A cringe inducing love story between two actors with zero chemistry isn't what we deserved, but it was functional.
Throughout the story the Jedi Council, in particular Mace Windu, are concerned (rightly so) that Anakin is conflicted. For this reason they do not promote him to the rank of Master despite putting him on the Council. They make almost zero attempt to explain it in a way that gives him any reason at all not to hate them. In spite of this Anakin still sides with the Jedi and reveals Palpatine's plot, surely then earning their trust.
But Mace Windu inexplicably tells him he wont include him in the arrest without thanking him, or telling him this will earn him the councils trust. Instead Anakin is left to dwell on his worst anxieties and turn to darkness.
Seriously, how hard would it have been to say "thank you Anakin, if this is correct you have proven your loyalty and we will accept you as a Jedi Master", or "we need someone we trust to watch the council Chambers". Better yet how hard would it have been to say earlier in the film "you are not a Jedi Master because you still have much to learn, but we want you on the council because your potential is greater than our own".
The entire film requires monumental shortcomings in the script in order for the plot to function.
