A fanbase that's just as enthusiastic as the Twilight lot, admirers of the wizarding world generally have a reputation for being respectful and gracious.

But there are always one or two bad eggs in any large group of people, and Malfoy actor Tom Felton discovered this fact in a truly unorthodox fashion.

Back when the Potter movie series was still in full swing, Felton shared a story about an encounter he had with a freaky fan. Apparently, this follower of his had concocted an oddball scheme that involved legally adopting the actor, and moving him to the States.

"I've had requests for adoption... in America, a man changed his name legally to Lucius Malfoy, showed me the documentation and then sent me documents to disown my parents and move to be with him in the States in his house, which he had named Malfoy Manor. I kindly rejected that. That was quite scary."

Felton never disclosed when this incident took place, but the Harry Potter movies spanned from 2001 - 2011. Felton was born in 1987, making him a maximum of 24 years old, and a minimum of 14. Whichever end of the age spectrum this proposed adoption fell on, it's still alarming as hell.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
