In Superman II, Clark decides that the only way he can ever be with Lois for good is to remove his powers. Fortunately, he had a tool for that purpose in the Fortress of Solitude, which worked by blasting him with red star radiation, completely removing his powers.

Of course, Superman is the hero of the story, so he isn't the one we're concerned with for this list. When he was without his powers, Zod, Ursa, and Non showed up on Earth looking for a fight, so Superman had to go back and get his powers to stand up to them.

Their fight threatens the lives of the people of Metropolis, so Superman leads his enemies to the Fortress of Solitude, where he uses Lex Luthor's penchant for betrayal to his advantage. After Lex lets the other Kryptonians know that Superman's powers can be stripped by the device, they compel him inside.

When he emerges, he's the one with powers, and the folks on the outside were without theirs, thanks to his reversing the machine, so he was protected inside. Non tries to fly and falls to his death, while Superman crushes Zod's hand and throws him against a wall, killing him. Ursa also meets her end when Lois slugs her in the jaw, sending her to a similar demise.
