5. The Chipmunk Adventure
Decades before the wretched live-action movies, there was a delightful animated feature-length film of the Chipmunks in the late '80s. This one followed the exploits of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore on a hot-air balloon race around the world versus the Chipettes, basically the female version of the trio. Dave Seville, their human caretaker and ostensible father figure, is on a business trip in Europe and thinks his "boys," as he likes to affectionately call them, are being babysat by Miss Miller, the neighborhood's matronly, though loony, authority figure, and in one scene, as Dave calls his home, Miss Miller is seen making a cake and singing "Come On-a My House" to herself. This was actually the first hit song written by Ross Bagdasarian, the creator of the Chipmunks, so the character is surreptitiously paying tribute to her universe's creator. A hyper, remixed version of the song was eventually used as the opening theme to the Playboy bunny reality show The Girls Next Door, which has since been thankfully canceled (and as a trivia bonus, the song was recorded by Rosemary Clooney, George Clooney's aunt). Later in the movie, Miss Miller sings "Witch Doctor," another hit by Bagdasarian and the first to feature his sped-up singing technique, though it wasn't an official Chipmunks release.
