10 Karen Gillan Performances You Have To See

3. Selfie

Karen landed her biggest post-Pond role to date in 2014 when she was chosen to front her very own US sitcom which premiered on ABC last fall. She took on the leading role of Eliza Dooley in the ultimately short-lived show, a vain, materialistic and generally narcissistic social media fiend (but don't let that description put you off!) who joined forces with marketing image guru Henry Higgs, played by John Cho, to help her reinvent her tarnished image after a video of her embarrassing break up went viral. It also starred David Harewood who Doctor Who fans will remember as Joshua Naismith from The End of Time. It was basically the 1950s musical My Fair Lady with a modern twist and it was shaping up to be pretty good before it was cancelled halfway through its first season. Hashtag the feels. There are still 13 episodes out there for your viewing pleasure, of course, and it's worth sticking with them because there are some nice - albeit rare - moments in which Karen's character could almost be mistaken for an actual human being. Her performance of Sia's Chandelier in Episode 11 comes to mind, which affirmed that Karen can also sing as well as seemingly just about everything else. Is there anything she can't do?!
