10 Key Characters Created Specifically For Comic Book Movies

1. Nuclear Man (Superman IV: The Quest for Peace)

In spite of Superman's undoubtedly legendary rogues gallery, the Christopher Reeve movie franchise utilised more than one villain who was created specifically for the screen instead of taking from the comics. Nuclear Man appeared in 1987's Superman IV: The Quest for Peace - an utterly terrible movie - and was a really horrible villain. Not horrible in terms of his personality or anything, just horrible. He was ridiculously created when Lex Luthor attach a strand of Superman's hair and a genetic matrix to a nuclear missile - when the missile exploded, Nuclear Man was born from the blast. Played by Mark Pillow but voiced by Gene Hackman, Nuclear Man was completely useless in the dark. All Superman needed to do to render him powerless was fight him in the shade. Admittedly he had to do that by moving the moon, but is still a pretty lame weakness. So there you have it - ten key characters that were created specifically for comic book movies.
