10 Killer Last Lines In Horror Movie History
2. "I'm Finished!" - There Will Be Blood
Another choice that will prompt exasperated yells of "that's not a horror movie!", but consider this argument: Daniel Plainview is one of the scariest movie monsters of the past 20 years.
Played with quiet, menacing intensity by Daniel Day-Lewis, the protagonist of Paul Thomas Anderson's modern masterpiece is a soulless creature driven by greed and the urge to consume. His compulsion to use and exploit everyone and everything around him peaks in the film's final scene, which takes place in a bowling alley inside Daniel's cavernous mansion, where he now lives as a recluse. He's visited there by Eli Sunday, the preacher who once humiliated and chastised Daniel for abandoning his son.
Daniel delights in telling a down-on-his-luck Eli that the land he hopes to sell has been drained of oil and is therefore worthless. Still not satisfied, he continues to taunt and abuse Eli, then starts to chase him around the room, bellowing, "I TOLD YOU I WOULD EAT YOU!"
His sadistic hunger is only sated when he caves Eli's head in with a bowling pin. When the butler comes to investigate the commotion, Daniel, like a child who has had enough to eat, delivers the film's deeply unsettling final line.
