4. Orson Welles

I'll be honest, there's so many elements to what made him a successful director that I have a hard time pinning one down. However, if I were to pick only one, it would be this: Non-linear storytelling. Really, wouldn't that be cool? It would be a major shake-up to the established method of Bond movies, and give audiences something new to marvel at, to discuss on their way out the theater. Many people hope for Christopher Nolan to direct Bond 24, but Orson Welles had many of the same directing techniques. It would've been. So. Cool.
