Speaking of time travel movies, let's end with this 2019 Canadian movie that might have one of the most literal titles in cinema history.

Our main character is James (obviously), who meets James, a version of himself who has travelled back in time to stop his younger self from developing the time travel technology that allowed him to be there in the first place.

Got it? Didn't think so.

Future James (Daniel Stern, aka Marv from Home Alone) tells present day James (Jonas Chernick) that his obsession with time travel will ruin his life. Ironically, in his quest to gain access to the past, James became disconnected from the present and his older self wants to avoid this happening.

The concept alone is a world beater, a really clever spin on the time travel formula. The tiny cast of just five actors all put in a great performance, making it really easy to care about the very few characters in this film.

James vs His Future Self holds a very rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes that is thoroughly deserved. If you want a small movie with big ideas, that just so happens to be about time travel, then this is the perfect choice.
