10 Major On-Set Clashes That Almost Ruined Recent Movies
5. Bill Murray Vs Lucy Liu, Charlie’s Angels (2000)
Lovable funny man Murray has been in his fair share of spats but his feuding with Lucy Liu stands out for its ferocity. On the set of Charlie’s Angels, apparently the pair began to critique each other’s scenes, with Murray giving a real ripsnorter of a critique by stopping one scene in particular and pointing to Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu, and stating, in that order, “I get why you’re here, and you’ve got talent … but what in the hell are you doing here. You can’t act!”
And we all thought he was that lovable guy from Groundhog Day! Liu responded by unleashing a flurry of punches at Murray, the pair finally being separated. How many blows she landed we’ll never know. Murray refused to take part in the sequel, Charlie’s Angels; Full Throttle, which was a smart move. Instead that honour went to Bernie Mac. The director Joseph McGinty Nichol, known mononymously as McG, later claimed Murray had head-butted him on set too. Murray denied it undoubtedly he seems to have a dark side we don’t hear nearly enough about.
