2. Proteus
With Moira MacTaggert back in the fold for Apocalypse, it bears mentioning just how crucial a role she has to one of the X-Mens most feared enemies. Her son, Kevin was a creation of legendary X-Men writer Chris Claremont and his abilities made him far too dangerous to keep around. His powers of warping reality, coupled with his telepathy and energy-based form convinced his mother that he needed to be confined in solitary cell with a fake name to keep everyone safe. When he finally gets loose, hes angry, but more than anything, hes sad, making him the kind of tragic villain thats not familiar to this franchise yet. Proteus specifically earns such a high placement because of Bryan Singers evident interest in using him. The director recently spoke of the villain as enticing because of how visually distinct he is. Considering how great the character is, and the unique feel he would bring to a subsequent X-Men film, this excitement certainly seems valid.
