10 Massive X-Men Villains That Could Follow Apocalypse
3. Dark Phoenix
One of the greatest things to come out of the history re-write that Days Of Future Past did was that the terrible adaptation of the Dark Phoenix Saga was no longer canon. With the bastardisation of this beloved story wiped from existence along with The Last Stand, it gives this new generation of X-Men a chance to properly live it out. The story of Jean Greys gradual descent into darkness was handled poorly last time, but that doesn't mean she can't be an incredible villain and if the series is smart, it will build towards a re-do of the story. In the comics, the Dark Phoenix became unhinged after the Hellfire Club messed with Jean Greys head. Unleashed, she killed billions, wiping out entire planets. While the X-Men fought to stop her, the alien Shiar race that threatened to destroy the solar system to contain her. Sacrificing herself in a moment of remaining humanity, it cemented the tragic and epic arc in the minds of fans forever. Apocalypse might be a mutant god but the Phoenix is a force of nature, and if nearly destroying the Earth isnt enough, maybe the X-Men would fancy trying to stop the destruction of the entire galaxy.
