10 Massively Underrated Horror Movies
9. Eden Lake
Sometimes the most chilling horrors are the most plausible ones, and Eden Lake is the nightmare scenario everyone has contemplated during their most paranoid hours.
This British gem from director James Watkins stars Kelly Reilly and Michael Fassbender as a couple whose romantic getaway is ruined by a gang of knife-packing chavs, who terrorise, stalk and torture them.
There are undertones of Deliverance and Straw Dogs throughout, and its poignant commentary on class prejudice is only becoming more relevant as time goes by.
Eden Lake is unrelenting, and at times downright ugly, but this is everything you want from a horror film, with social commentary thrown in for good measure.
