10 MCU Concept Art Designs Better Than What We Got

Spider-Man: Homecoming's costume design clung to tradition as tightly as the spandex outfit itself clings to Peter Parker's backside, but concept art released on social media suggests Marvel considered going in a different direction.

Artist Ryan Meinerding revealed a Spidey getup based on the more ominous red and black costume which featured in Dan Slott and Ryan Stegman's Superior Spider-Man series, and it would have made a refreshing change from the norm.

Technically, this outfit was sported by Doctor Octopus when he took over Peter's body in one of the most complicated evil schemes ever devised. Spidey later reverted to his classic red and blue getup after prising his body back from the villain.

After five Spider-Man films where the web-slinger sports near-identical costumes for the most part, it would have been interesting to see Homecoming shatter the mould and draw inspiration from this fan-favourite storyline, but there will no doubt be opportunities to expand Tom Holland's wardrobe in the future.
