10 MCU Heroes Who Started Out As Villains

Age of Ultron introduced a whole handful of new characters, including Ulysses Klaue, the titular villain, and Vision to name just a few. Joining them in making their MCU debuts were the Maximoff twins, Pietro and Wanda.

Disillusioned and rebellious, the two volunteered for Baron Strucker’s Mind Stone experiments which left them both with powers, though Wanda’s had been there all along. That, plus a hatred for Tony Stark, meant they didn’t have to consider long whether or not to join Ultron in his fight against the Avengers.

In short, they tore through the team like a knife through butter before Wanda saw Ultron’s true vision. They didn’t want a global extinction, and so joined forces with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to defeat Ultron. Though Pietro lost his life in the fight, Wanda has since gone on to become one of the strongest characters in the entire franchise.

Though there is no denying she was a hero throughout Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame, seeing Vision die just like everyone else she ever cared about potentially put her back on the path of villainy. She has already held an entire town hostage against their will, who knows what is coming up for her in the Multiverse of Madness and beyond?
