10 MCU Moments That Don't Quite Fit

9. Vibranium Mine Fight - Black Panther

Early in Black Panther we see a stunning battle between T'Challa and Killmonger for the throne of Wakanda. The choreography is crisp and the setting is eye-catching. Why then would their final fight give us two cartoonish CGI characters fighting in a cartoonish CGI setting? It's unfortunate that this is the battle left in viewers' minds when the credits roll.

Black Panther had a lot of things going for it. Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan are spot on as T'Challa and Killmonger. The scenery of Wakanda and the exposure of Wakandan culture gives the film something to hang one's hat upon.

The problem comes in the third act, when it feels as though the studio paid animators double to get the movie done on time. Where there were once remarkable backgrounds and seamless choreography, the film's climax switches gears into a jarring CGI fest. The scene is akin to the underground "rave" scene in The Matrix Reloaded. Afterwards, you find yourself thinking "Overall the movie was really good, but there was that one scene...".

Considering the number of eyes on each Marvel project, it's surprising that somebody didn't raise their hand about this sequence. Audiences would have surely been willing to wait another couple or months if it meant cleaning up this otherwise out-of-place scene.
