Starting with The Avengers in 2012, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have been the backbone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Through Age of Ultron, Infinity War, and Endgame, everything in the franchise has linked and passed through these four movies.

Phase Four is something of a fresh start for the MCU, and the Avengers in general, as the team has lost some of its biggest and most important members. However, that certainly doesn’t mean that the team is no more. The Shang-Chi post credit scene essentially confirmed at least four members of the team moving forward, with another coming together almost certainly on the cards in the future.

Much like in Phase One, this is something that will have to be built up to first. The ball has begun rolling with Shang-Chi, and the villain likely will be Kang the Conqueror who will first appear properly in Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania, but there is still a lot more work to put in first.

A 2024 release for the fifth Avengers movie would allow for the new heroes to come through and establish themselves in the franchise before being thrown together to join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and fight off He Who Remains’ most dangerous Variant.
