10 Memorable Grandpas In Movies

8. Don Corrado (William Hickley) - Prizzi's Honor All is fair in love and war. Especially when the two lovebirds are professionally hired guns working for the Prizzis (a powerful New York mob family) who try to kill each other. Or when Mr and Mrs Smith meets The Godfather€ Starring Jack Nicholson as Charley Partanna, a dimwit but capable hit man, and Kathleen Turner as his treacherous love interest, John Huston's satirical and bleak comedy benefits from two hot leads and cleverly puts an ironic romance into a film noir atmosphere. Nicholson tries an unexpected 'Italian' accent and Turner plays the alluring seductress from the War of the Roses, only€ meaner. But although the two stars really shine together, the supporting actors actually steal the show: Angelica Huston (the director's daughter), as Charley's unforgiving former girlfriend, and above all, William Hickey, as her grandfather, Don Corrado, the head of the Prizzis. He is a mean little old man who looks like he has been let to dry in the sun. Still, behind his frail physical appearance, he is in fact hiding a heart of stone and an iron hand. For all families, he is a respected harmless old geezer, while he is actually a vicious puppet master, quietly pulling the strings unnoticed and making people an offer they can€™t refuse. Nothing is more important for him than the honor of the Prizzis, not even another Prizzi. During one of the most famous scenes, he is sitting with his granddaughter, listening to her troubles. And the only thing he does is to offer her a cookie and tell her with a comforting smile how much he would have been proud to have a grandson instead. Likewise, he wouldn't let feelings get in his way to power and won't think twice before asking Charley to ice his own wife for the sake of the Family over a casual dinner conversation. After all, it is just business.
