10 Michael Keaton Movies You've Never Even Heard Of

8. Johnny Dangerously

What is it?: A lavish star vehicle for Keaton. You'd have thought everyone would have wanted to see this guy give 1930s New York a run for its dirty money. The soon-to-be Batman jumped over the wrong side of the fence in 1984, albeit in a retro outfit as Johnny Kelly. All he wanted was a decent life for himself and his family. When he couldn't get it, the fedora went on and the tommy guns came out. With Keaton dominating such offerings as Night Shift and Mr Mom, an elaborate star vehicle was bound to be offered, and this attempt aimed to propel him into the league of big potatoes. Curiously it's the second movie on the list to showcase him as an upstanding guy turned hardass, after One Good Cop. Clueless helmer Amy Heckerling called the shots on this handsomely-mounted chunk of flim flam and the star had the support of Joe Piscopo, Maureen Stapleton and Danny DeVito. But all that effort wasn't enough to put Johnny up there with Keaton's defining roles.
