If someone told you there was a horror movie made out of paper mache that would scare your pants off, you'd probably say they need a nap. But they'd be right, as The Wolf House is a surreal horror with a unique handcrafted art style.

The story follows a young woman who seeks refuge in a house in the woods after escaping from an isolated colony. There, she meets two pigs who she adopts as her children. However, as hunger kicks in, her situation begins to darken.

It goes without saying that the visual style, which constantly shifts from paintings to paper mache models, paints a delightful treat for the eyes. Still, the more frightening things get, the more that charming aesthetic begins to feel uneasy and creepy. It doesn't matter how good a model is; it will always look dead behind the eyes.

The visuals also play into the narrative, as you're left in the hands of an unreliable narrator. The young girl's delusions and fantasies are reflected in the imagery, meaning the visuals constantly shift. While The Wolf House looks lovely, it leaves you never knowing what is real and what isn't, giving you a direct perspective into a delusional mind.
