10 Minor Characters Who Would've Broken Star Wars
7. Ric Olié
Ric Olié is practically as minor as any named character can be; he's forgettable, mostly confined to the background, and has but a handful of lines of dialogue. But Olié does something that may (or may not, as the case may be, but we'll never know) have shaped the entire Skywalker saga.
The commander of the Naboo Royal Space Fighter Corps, Olié often acted as then-Queen Padmé Amidala's pilot. In this capacity he was working when Padmé met Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, and Olié was the man who facilitated their escape from the Trade Federation's blockade of Naboo.
But his significance doesn't end there. Olié went on to meet a young Anakin Skywalker, and was in fact the one who taught Anakin to pilot a starship.
It might seem inevitable that the Jedi prodigy would have learned this skill one way or another, but shortly after Olié's lesson, Skywalker used his new skills to destroy the Droid Control ship and end the Trade Federation's attack on Naboo - something that might not have been possible had Olié not taken the time to show the boy the ropes.
