10 Missed Opportunities In Marvel Cinematic Universe

9. Including Actual Nazis - Captain America

Redskull I thoroughly enjoyed Captain America as an old-school throwback adventure flick, not dissimilar to an Indiana Jones movie, though there's no explaining why - unlike those movies - Cap decided to feature "Nazis" who didn't bear a single Swastika between them. Instead, they all bear the logo of Red Skull's Hydra division (a squid with a skull for a head), while it's suggested that Red Skull has splintered off from the Nazis, essentially white-washing history in order to sell some Swastika-free action figures and make the film more appealing to general audiences (because a knowledge of history is such a terrible thing...) Hitler is very briefly mentioned at the start of the film, but other than this, the signature "Heil Hitler!" chant is altered to "Heil Hydra!", and though most of us are perceptive enough to recognise the inference, the film suffers from failing to replicate the incredibly iconic imagery from the original run of comics.
