10 Moments In Horror Where Actors Weren't Acting
8. Amanda Wyss - A Nightmare On Elm Street

The production of A Nightmare On Elm Street was fittingly nightmarish. Thanks to the minuscule budget, the elaborate set-pieces had to be put together with limited crew members and resources.
This was a major problem when Wes Craven shot the scene where Amanda Wyss' character, Tina, is murdered. While sleeping in her bedroom, Tina is attacked in her dreams by Freddy Krueger. As the fedora-sporting maniac mauls her in the dream world, her body in the real world flails in the air before ascending up the wall and ceiling.
Since there was no money for hydraulics, the shot was achieved by rotating the set by hand. Pulling it off was so complex, it'd wouldn't be much of a surprise to learn Wyss got hurt while filming.
However, she suffered a different problem she wasn't prepared for - vertigo. Rotating the room left Wyss incredibly disoriented, even before the sequence was shot. Since the character is meant to be terrified and confused, you'd think this would help give the scene a bit more authenticity.
But according to Wyss, it was really difficult to film the shot where Tina was dead since the poor actress was still extremely dizzy.
