9. The Uber-Spawn - Deadly Spawn

In sci-fi-horror B-movie Deadly Spawn, a cluster of alien worms crash-land near a family's house and turn the basement into their own personal feeding ground. As they grow in numbers and size, the ravenous critters begin to attack anybody in their proximity.

Despite the minuscule $25,000 budget, the special effects look anything but cheap. Not only are the gory deaths extremely effective, but the spawn themselves have a fantastic design. They have no facial features, save for one gigantic mouth smiling from proverbial ear-to-ear, constantly showing off hundreds of razor-sharp teeth.

After our ensemble seemingly exterminates these wicked worms, the group breathes a sigh of relief, believing the nightmare is over. However, in the final shot, the camera focuses on an ominous hill beside the family's house. With little warning, the hill lifts up, causing a skyscraper-sized spawn to emerge, with the behemoth letting out an ear-splitting shriek before the screen cuts to black.

The final spawn only shows up for a few seconds, but its appearance packs a punch. Considering the townsfolk barely defeated regular-sized aliens, this last-moment tease indicates the citizens (and the whole world) are most certainly doomed.
