10 More Horror Movie Reveals So Bad You Almost Walked Out
4. Urban Legends: Final Cut
In the same vein as its predecessor, Urban Legends: Final Cut revolves around Amy, a college student who's working on a film thesis about creepy urban myths. However, Amy's life turns upside down when a crazed psycho donned in a fencing mask starts offing students.
For the previous film, the villain was driven to murder by a tragic loss directly connected to an urban legend, which was a nice way to tie their motivation to the story's concept. But here, the antagonist has the dumbest motive possible.
In the end, Amy's tutor, Professor Solomon, admits he's been behind the massacre all along. confessing that he slaughtered everybody affiliated with Amy's thesis so that he could frame her for the murder and present her work as his own. What possible reason would he have for committing such atrocities? To win a trophy.
Even though the motivation of horror villains is rarely justified, you usually can understand where they're coming from. But the catalyst this time around is so weak, it's ridiculous that Solomon electrocuted, hung, and decapitated these poor students purely to win a college competition.
