10 More Horror Movie Sequels That Had No Right To Be This Good

7. Wrong Turn (2021)

The first Wrong Turn was solid, the first sequel was okay, but the rest? Yeah, it's a bit of a slog for those who stuck around to watch Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead, Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings, Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines, and Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort.

So, by 2021, there was minimal interest in yet another outing for a franchise which, truthfully, had become old hat by the second film's final act. Even more concerning, the 2021 feature - simply titled Wrong Turn - was a second reboot for the franchise, and we all know how words like reboot, remake, and reimagining put a cold shiver down the spine of many a horror fan.

In a development nobody saw coming, the most recent Wrong Turn movie was actually pretty darn good. Pulling back a little on the gratuitous gore of the franchise - plus removing Three Finger, Saw Tooth, and One Eye from the equation - the end result was a more stylish, sleek film that takes its time with its terror.

Rather than the mutated cannibals of prior movies, the 'bad guys' of this picture are merely a group of primitive humans who live in their 'Foundation' community out in the woods - headed up by the ever-great Bill Sage as the Foundation's leader.

That's not to say that Wrong Turn 2021 doesn't have some gnarly moments, of course, as there is plenty of twisted brutality as and when called for.
