10 More Horror Movie Sequels That Had No Right To Be This Good

As of this writing, there are a staggering 45 movies that carry the Amityville name. While some of these feature possessed clocks and mirrors from the old Amityville house, others take the action to actual space, and one even centres on a sinister sex toy. Yes, really.

Of all of these films, the very best one could well be 1982's Amityville II: The Possession; a follow-up that actually surpasses the 1979 original and the solid 2005 remake. In actuality, The Possession is technically a prequel, with it taking place before the Lutz family moved into the infamous house.

Of course, the Lutz clan moved into the Amityville abode one year after the DeFeo family massacre. Here, the DeFeo name is switched out for the Montellis, led by the late, great Burt Young as family patriarch Anthony. A garbage human being, Anthony rules with an iron fist, forever angry, and worryingly eager to physically assault his wife, children, and even threaten a priest.

While Young's character is a proper scumbag, though, it's the family's oldest child Sonny (Jack Magner) who eventually ends up taking centre-stage as the house possesses him to do its nefarious bidding.

Granted, it's a smidge cheesy in places - very much a product of its time - but Damiano Damiani's Amityville II: The Possession is a fantastic, creepy as all hell picture that descends into absolute chaos.
