10 More Horror Movie Sequels That Were Just Too Cruel
4. The Hills Have Eyes 2
Though 2006's remake of The Hills Have Eyes ends on a somewhat ambiguous note as the survivors are still being watched from afar by an unknown mutant, The Hills Have Eyes 2 replicates this finale while twisting the knife a little more.
The three characters who make it to the end of the movie are National Guard trainees Napoleon (Michael McMillian), Amber (Jessica Stroup), and Missy (Daniella Alonso).
However, as the three exit the mines to their apparent salvation, a title card appears ambiguously declaring that the disappearance of the trainees was never explained to their families, and they were officially listed as AWOL.
While at first audiences might assume the text is only referring to the dead trainees, the final shot shows the trio being watched by a mutant with infrared surveillance equipment, implying that they will probably also be among the "AWOL" victims.
After surviving through so much trauma and general nastiness, it sure felt like these three earned the right to live.
