In the Clash of the Titans remake, Sam Worthington's Perseus battled many monsters, including Medusa, giant scorpions, Calibos, and the Kraken. However, the Aussie actor also clashed with the director, Louis Leterrier. More specifically, Worthington fought over the inclusion of a certain character, Bubo the mechanical owl.

Since Bubo only appears briefly, casual viewers mightn't understand the automaton's significance. In original Clash of the Titans, Bubo served the goddess of wisdom, Athena. To help Perseus in his quest, Athena commanded her pet to look out for him.

According to an interview with Vanity Fair, Leterrier intended Bubo to play a bigger role in his Clash of the Titans. But Worthington was having none of it, saying -

'This is ridiculous! This is a ridiculous thing to have in the movie! You're going to ruin my career with that owl!'"

According to Leterrier, the Avatar star also threatened to drop the owl prop. For this reason, Bubo was relegated to a five-second cameo.

To be fair, having the heroic demi-god teaming up with a hooting robot probably wouldn't work in a mythological drama. Nevertheless, Worthington's blood-boiling tantrum was a little extreme.
