The production of Michael Mann's Miami Vice endured all sorts of problems from beginning to end. Hurricanes in the filming area led to delays, causing the budget to swell exponentially. Script rewrites occurred with infuriating regularity. Mann filmed in gang-filled territories, which the crew strongly disagreed with.

However, Miami Vice's biggest problem was its star, Jamie Foxx. The Oscar-winning performer was a nightmare for everyone involved, refusing to work until unrealistically specific conditions were met. He also wouldn't film scenes on boats or planes for some reason.

But it gets worse. While shooting in Dominican Republic, gunshots were heard, compelling the Collateral star to head back to the States. And then... Foxx never came back.

Since there were still scenes to shoot, it was impossible for Mann to complete production the way he envisioned. As a result, the director had to use a previously discarded ending that took place in Miami, allowing Foxx to continue filming.

Although Miami Vice wasn't great, it's a miracle it saw the light of day considering the creators had to bend over backwards to get around Foxx's preposterous demands.
