9. Mrs. Carmody (The Mist)

Forget the gargantuan tentacle monsters and oversized lobsters, forget those spiders that were the size of Rottweilers and forget the flesh-eating pterodactyl-like flying beasts - annoying, pretentious, religious zealot Mrs. Carmody (Marcia Gay Harden) was undoubtedly the main antagonist of this movie. Describing herself as 'Mother Carmody', her false sense of self-importance - she claimed to be a direct link to God amidst the siege of the mist and all of the ungodly creatures that came with it - resulted in the death of a soldier (who was 'sacrificed' to the beasts to supposedly appease God), panic and mayhem of a scale even larger than that which was already spreading and, ultimately, her own death via bullet to the forehead - the most satisfying part of the movie by far. Her most disgusting showings in the movie were when she intended to sacrifice a child to the beasts and when she said the following to Amanda Dumfries (Laurie Holden);
"I'll tell you what. The day I need a friend like you, I'll just have myself a little squat and shit one out."
