10 More Really Annoying Movie Characters

6. Tia Russell (Uncle Buck)

TiaRussell Tia (Jean Louisa Kelly) is the oldest of the three Russell kids (the others being Maizy, played by Gaby Hoffman, and Miles, played by Macaulay Culkin) whom the titular Uncle Buck (John Candy) has to babysit for a few days when their parents go to visit their Grandfather, who has just had a heart attack, in the 1989 comedy classic. Already angry with life after having had to move to the suburbs from Indianapolis due to her Father's promotion, Tia becomes even more resentful of her parents when they feel the need to bring in a babysitter - especially when it's her apparently good-for-nothing Uncle - and she promptly starts to take out her anger on him. The pair engage in a battle of wills, in which Buck is seemingly coming out on top despite Tia's best efforts to constantly ignore his authority with her bratty attitude. But Tia stoops to an ultimate low by making Buck's girlfriend think he is having an affair with their neighbour, when in fact he was doing no such thing. Buck's unique methods of looking after the three kids (including scaring off Tia's sleazy boyfriend, punching a drunk clown, taking them to a rowdy bowling alley, making a pancake feast and shouting at Maizy's school principal) ultimately wins Tia over, but this doesn't excuse the fact that she had previously been an annoying little brat for the entire movie.
